Rabat – Less than two weeks ago Moroccan footballer Youssef En-Nesyri was pledging his loyalty to Sevilla FC as he declined numerous offers. However, he is now backtracking on that decision, as the Moroccan player has reportedly agreed to sign with Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

The 25-year-old striker has reportedly agreed to the OGC Nice deal, according to Foot Mercato, which adds that the French team has been looking to strengthen their side since the departure of manager Lucien Favre.

Converging reports detail that negotiations are going well and everything seems on track for the Moroccan player to join OGC Nice.

En-Nesyri is a cheaper and quicker option to sign,  compared to Nice’s slower ongoing negotiations to try and sign Nigerian player Terem Moffi, reports have suggested.

The French team is looking to move quickly in the transfer window, with rumors that they are also looking to sign center-back Youssouf Ndayishimiye.

The move would be a step up from En-Nesyri’s current team Sevilla, which has been stuck in a slump ranking a disappointing 19th in La Liga. Meanwhile, OGC Nice currently ranks 10th in Ligue 1.

En-Nesyri caught the eye of many big clubs lately thanks to his solid performance at the 2022 World Cup as he contributed to the Atlas Lions’ historic run during the global tournament.

But despite being tempted by a number of clubs, such as Premier League’s West Ham United, the player recently released a statement through his agent saying he would not be moving from Sevilla.

The official statement from En-Nesyri’s agency read: “I thank all the clubs that have contacted my agent, but at the moment I want to have my head only in Sevilla. It’s not a money issue, but a sporting issue.”

En-Nesyri backed his previous decision by saying he wanted to stay and help Sevilla in their “worst moment.” The player was reportedly offered 30 million euros to sign with West Ham.

Reports have not yet confirmed whether En-Nesyri has signed the deal with Nice or how much he is being sold for. On the website TransferMarkt, the player is valued at 15 million euros.
