Rabat – The Teachers of English Association in Morocco denied reports on Monday that a group of students escaped during a trip to London.
“Following what some Facebook pages and news sites have shared on some of the students not returning from the trip to London, we notify that we have no relations with them, and that all the students who participated returned,” the association said on its Facebook page.
In the same statement they wrote the association “ retain the right to resort to the judiciary to pursue a fair outcome from a misinformation campaign that targeted and defamed our name and staff.”
Reports emerged on Monday on social media and some news sites that a group of students who visited London with the association fled in a bid to stay in the UK and not return to Morocco.
One of the teachers on the trip also said he has the right to take legal action, adding that the reports “targeted my person and defamed my name.”
“I inform you that I was not responsible for any of the participants who were alleged to not have returned,” adding that he was not an organizing professor and only participated out of personal interest.
To defend the association the teacher commented saying: “None of these falsities will limit the fulfillment of what we believe in to service culture, science, and education, and our path to discover international cultures will continue.”
The Teachers of English Association in Morocco is a national association of English teachers in both the private and public sectors that aims to provide English teachers and students with opportunities, as well as strengthen the promotion of English in Morocco.
