Rabat – After spending big in the January transfer window, Chelsea FC are ready to sell some of their stars, including Morocco’s Hakim Ziyech, Marca reported on Friday.
England’s Raheem Sterling and American winger Christian Pulisic are also up for sale, the report adds.
British outlet Metro added that the Blues are likely to offer Ziyech to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur as part of a deal to land Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma, although Tottenham are reportedly not receptive to the offer.
Chelsea signed Ziyech from Dutch club Ajax back in 2020 for a reported fee of €40 million. But while the Moroccan forward has still not found his place in the Blues’ system, he has been producing great performances for the Moroccan national team, recently playing an important role in their historic run at the 2022 World Cup.
Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit had previously advised Ziyech to move to a different club, such as FC Barcelona.
Gullit claimed that Chelsea have put Ziyech in positions that just do not suit him, arguing that the Morocco international can still reach the top at another club like Barcelona.
“I would like to see him in Spain. He can reach the top. He would also fit well in the Barcelona team,” the ex-Dutch international told Ziggo Sport.
Chelsea has been spending big this month, buying the Ukrainian Mikhailo Mudryk for a reported fee of €100 million and spending another €10 million on a six-month loan for Joao Felix.
Currently hovering around 10th place in the Premier League, the club is looking to recoup some of those expenses by selling some of its more underutilized stars. Ziyech and the others are reportedly up for sale for significantly less than what the London club paid to sign them.
