Rabat – The Gladiator 2 crew is set to begin filming the long-awaited sequel in May across several locations in Ouarzazate, Morocco.

Converging reports said that the filming of the Roman-style epic sequel will begin in May.

“Locations have been chosen in the Moroccan city of Ouarzazate, which is building a reputation as a favorite site for movie makers due to its dramatic landscapes,” The Sun reported.

The sequel comes after a 23-year wait following the original production release.

In addition to attracting many tourists, Ouarzazate has been the home of several movies and series.

The Gladiator’s first chapter was also filmed in the city of Ouarzazate.

In addition to Gladiator, Ouarzazate has been the home for other movies and series, including the Mummy and Lawrence of Arabia.

In November 2022, the Hollywood Reporter also said that several stars, including Ruby Rose and Eva Green, are expected to come to Morocco to film the upcoming action movie “Dirty Angels” which is being directed by Martin Campbell.

Morocco earned the respect of many filmmakers and magazines, who choose the North African country as one of their favorite set destinations.

In 2018, the Hollywood Reporter described Morocco as the “most lovely spot in the Whole World,” recalling world-class spots in the North African country, including Marrakech, Essaouira, and the Atlas Mountains.
News outlet The Washington Post also touted Morocco’s tourist destination, featuring the North African country as “one of the world’s top travel destinations” for this year.
