Rabat- Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui, who plays for German club Bayern Munich, received a royal letter from King Mohammed VI at the Consulate General of Morocco in Amsterdam on January 2.
Mazraoui received the letter in recognition of his performance in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, in which he helped Morocco reach the semi-finals.
The consulate shared images of the player receiving the letter on Twitter, writing, “Delivery of a Royal Letter addressed by His Majesty King Mohamed VI may God assist him to the great Champion Noussair Mazraoui.”

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who plays for Serie A club Fiorentina also received a royal letter at the consulate on December 29.

Besides the royal letter, King Mohamed VI offered royal wissams (medals) to the players of the national team during a royal reception that took place in Rabat on December 20.
The royal reception was held in recognition of the Atlas Lions’ historic achievement at the Qatar World Cup.
The Atlas Lions achieved historic milestones at the global tournament in Qatar, causing euphoria throughout the country, Africa, and the Arab World. Morocco became the first African and Arab country to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
