Rabat – Al Ahly claimed their second victory at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, defeating American Club Seattle Sounders 1-0.

In the first half of the match, the two teams were locked into a stalemate, with both delivering a solid performance.

Egyptian Midfielder Mohamed Magdy broke the stalemate in the 89th minute of the match, scoring a decisive late goal for his team from outside the penalty box.

Al Ahly will face European champions Real Madrid in the semi-final. The Spanish club, who possess a star-studded squad, are the favorites to go all the way and win the competition.

The Egyptian club started this year’s Club World Cup with an impressive 3-0 win against New Zealand’s Auckland City, cementing its reputation as one of Africa’s giant clubs.

Al Ahly qualified to the competition as CAF Champions League runners-up, as the champions Wydad AC had also taken the host club spot.

The team holds 42 Egyptian Premier League titles, 37 Egypt Cup titles, as well as 10 CAF Champions League titles.

For their part, the Sounders are the first team from the US Major League Soccer to earn a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup, following their victory in the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.
