Join on Telegram Rabat – A video has gone viral of Saad Lamjarred’s wife, Ghita El Allaki, showing support for her husband as he stood for a trial in a Paris court.
The video shows Lamjarred’s wife reassuring and hugging him on the sidelines of his trial, which started on Monday at the Assize Court in Paris.
Lamjarred married El Allaki in September 2022, but reports suggest the couple has been good friends for a decade now.
The singer’s trial is still ongoing to determine his alleged involvement in a rape case filed against him by in October 2016 by a French woman named Laura Prioul.
In addition to alleged rape, Prioul also claimed that the singer “beat her” after she refused his sexual advances.
Marion Dubreuil, a legal journalist at RMCinfo, has quoted Lamjarred as explaining that the woman he has married “supported him during this ordeal. He has known her for almost 10 years. She was his assistant.”
The journalist, who appears to be attending Lamjarred’s trial, has been sharing a series of tweets documenting the singer’s answers at court.
Dubreuil also listed a series of questions the singer received during the trial, including one about his childhood.
“I had a happy childhood, my mother who is an actress made me laugh all the time,” Lamjarred said.
When asked about his qualities as a person, the singer reportedly emphasized that he always preferred to “be the other people who talk about him.”
The singer also answered questions about his career as an artist, stressing that he makes €10,000 to €15,000 a month, and adding that that is how he finances his stay in Paris. “I work hard for this money,” he said.
Consistently ranked among the most popular musicians in Morocco over the past years, Lamjarred is also renowned across North Africa and the Middle East. Many of his famous songs, such as “Enta Maalem,” “El Hala,’” and “Enssay,” among others have attracted hundreds of millions of views and generated as many comments on YouTube and other platforms.
