Rabat – As Morocco’s tourism revenues continue to show strong signs of recovery from the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) announced on February 14 plans to increase travel routes and the number of seats available to and from Morocco with national and international carriers.
ONMT plans to launch 35 new air routes across 10 airlines, connecting eight Moroccan cities to overseas destinations this summer.
Interest in Morocco as a travel destination spiked after the world witnessed all that Morocco has to offer and the warm spirit of the country after the 2022 World Cup, in which Morocco received plenty of coverage thanks to its Atlas Lions’ impressive performances.
Increased access to and from Morocco plays a crucial role in building tourism revenues, ONMT’s CEO Adel El Fakir noted in the press release on the announcement.
Morocco’s bid to boost tourism includes the following destinations of Agadir, Essaouira, Marrakech, Fez, Ouarzazate, Nador, Tangier, and Rabat.
The Moroccan cities will be linked with destinations in Spain, Germany, France, Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, the UK, and Portugal.
The airlines included in the new program for 2023 are Air Arabia Morocco, Binter Canarias, EasyJet, Luxair, Eurowings Discover, Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, Volotea, TUIfly Belgium, and Vueling.
Within Morocco, certain locations now have expanded connections such as Agadir, which is linked with Strasbourg and Lisbon through Irish carrier Ryanair.

In addition, Eurowings Discover will connect Frankfurt to Agadir and British carrier EasyJet will launch flights from Scotland’s Glasgow to Agadir.
Essaouira, one of Morocco’s most prized holiday destinations, will be accessible via Bordeaux using EasyJet, as well as via the Canary Islands through carrier Binter. London will also have a flight via Ryanair and Barcelona using Vueling to and from Essaouira.
The ancient city of Fez will be linked with Spain’s Alicante and Palma de Mallorca, both of which are accessible with Ryanair. In addition, passengers can fly from Dusseldorf to Fez using Air Arabia Maroc and also Clermont-Ferrand through Ryanair.
Morocco’s sought-after red city, Marrakech, will have seven new openings of various flight routes, the capital of Rabat will have three new connections, and Tangier will launch four routes. Both Nador and Ouarzazate will have two new flight routes.
