Rabat – Morocco has extradited Patrick Mckenner, a 52-year-old man wanted in the US for different pending charges including sexual assault on a child.

Colorado’s 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced the extradition of the suspect from Morocco on Monday.

The suspect, who has been wanted for different alleged crimes, including sexual assault on a child, failed to appear in a hearing in May 2014, when he was set for trial.

“The defendant failed to appear for the Motions Hearing in May 2014. McKenner was eventually located in Morocco,”  the attorney’s office said.

The district’s attorney’s office added that it has been working with several departments, including FBI Denver Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force and the Department of Justice, to track the defendant’s location.

An FBI agent traveled last weekend to Morocco to complete the extradition of the suspect.

Mckenner is facing different charges including: “Sex assault of a child–position of trust, sex assault on a child–pattern of abuse, sexual exploitation of a child, sex assault on child, and tampering with physical evidence.”

Morocco works with different intelligence services across the world as part of its approach to preserving domestic and transnational security.

The country has been a member of Interpol since 1957, and the global police organization also has an office in Rabat.

The US and Morocco often cooperate on various security matters.

In 2021, Morocco handed essential data to the US on an American soldier who was arrested for attempting to assist ISIS in attacking US troops in the Middle East.

The intelligence cooperation is part of the two countries’ determination to boost cooperation at all levels – particularly against terrorism threats and other emerging security risks.
