Rabat – Premier League club Chelsea FC are reportedly showing interest in the services of Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli, according to Spanish outlet Diario de Navarra.
The London club have made their interest known to the player’s agent as well as to FC Barcelona, according to the report.
Chelsea are looking at young players to bolster their squad as they continue a major rebuild of the team. The club is looking to offload some of its older stars and bring new youngsters in, as shown by their recent signings of 22 year-old Mykhaylo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez.
Other Premier League clubs have reportedly been pursuing the player as well, such as Wolverhampton Wanderers who were linked with him in January.
The winger, who is part of the FC Barcelona team, is currently on loan to fellow Spanish club CA Osasuna until the end of the season.
While Osasuna are reportedly happy with the Moroccan’s performances despite an injury earlier this season, they are aware that it would be difficult to extend his stay, especially since they would be unable to compete with the financial means of Premier League clubs.
Diario de Navarra also reported that FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez is looking to use Ezzalzouli as a replacement for Dutch player Memphis Depay who recently left the club, though Barcelona’s precarious finances could stand in the way of keeping the Moroccan international.
Having been an up and rising youngster for the past few years, Ezzalzouli seemingly has more eyes on him after Morocco’s miracle run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The winger made his World Cup debut in Doha against Croatia.
Other Moroccan players like Sofyan Amrabat and Hakim Ziyech have also received interest from some of Europe’s top clubs following the global tournament.
