Paris Saint Germain’s (PSG) head coach, Christophe Galtier expressed disappointment at a press conference after the failed transfer of international Moroccan football player, Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea.
“We wanted to replace Pablo Sarabia with a player who can play on the right side. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. But it’s the transfer window,” he said.
Regretting the failed transfer deal, Galtier called the situation “unfortunate,” and emphasized that the issue was not PSG’s fault.
Ziyech was close to securing a transfer to the French Club on January 31.
The challenges surrounding the transfer of the international footballer were due to Chelsea’s failure to submit the necessary documents ahead of the transfer window deadline.
Chelsea submitted incorrect paperwork for Ziyech’s transfer to PSG three times on January 31, which marked the deadline of the January transfer window.
PSG received the correct documents from Chelsea after midnight.
The French side appealed the situation to Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP, the French body that runs the major professional football leagues in France).
LFP, however, rejected PSG’s request. Ziyech is now set to stay with Chelsea until the next transfer window.
