Rabat – Paris Saint Germain’s (PSG) attempt to sign Morocco’s international football player Hakim Ziyech collapsed due to Chelsea’s failure to submit the necessary documents on time.
Converging reports said Chelsea had failed to submit paperwork to conclude the PSG loan agreement for Ziyech three times last night, which marked the deadline for the January transfer window.
According to sports outlet Goal, the French club is reportedly set to appeal Ziyech’s failed loan.
The news outlet also quoted a source from PSG labeling the situation as a “class A circus.”
Chelsea did not manage to send the correct document for the signing until midnight in France.
French news outlet L’Equipe said that Ligue de Football Professionnel –the French body that runs the major professional football leagues in France – will deploy a legal committee today to study the loan approval of Ziyech to PSG.
“The documents necessary for the approval of this transfer arrived too late in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday,” the news outlet said.
Some reports indicated that PSG and Chelsea did sign the contract but the paperwork issues halted Ziyech’s transfer.
The halted agreement between PSG and Chelsea included a loan move with a no buy option clause included; the initial agreement was lauded by Ziyech football fans.
It remains to be seen whether an appeal session will determine Ziyech’s future with PSG.
If the deal is not confirmed, Ziyech will rejoin the Blues for another season.
