Rabat – Brazil’s head coach Ramon Menezes has commented on his team’s defeat against the Moroccan team, describing the Atlas Lions as a “great and very strong team.”
“What we thought of the game happened, the difficulty and the atmosphere that surrounded the match. It was an opponent with a quick transition, especially on the right side,” the coach said.
Menezes highlighted the performances of Morocco’s key players – including Hakim Ziyech and Achraf Hakimi.
“We had a little difficulty at the beginning of the game, which was even expected. We thought, in the first stage, of strengthening the defensive system a little more, mainly on the sides, since Morocco is very strong on the sides, especially on the right, with Hakimi and Zyiech,” he said.
Morocco crushed the Brazilian team 2-1 last night after scoring two beautiful goals from Sofiane Boufal and Abdelhamid Sabiri.
The Atlas Lions missed several other chances to strengthen its position, but their loyal fans were still left feeling dazzled and satisfied with last night’s triumph.
The win is expected to further strengthen Morocco’s position in the FIFA ranking which is putting the Atlas Lions as the 11th-best best team in the world. The Moroccan team earned a significant ranking following its historic World Cup run.
In addition to Menezes, Brazilian star Casimero also commented on his team’s defeat.
“I wouldn’t say we lacked teamwork, but we played with a new coach, with a different idea. He is a good coach, has the will to win, and has a great commitment,” Casimero said.
Casimero said that his team missed several opportunities to win the game, but acknowledged that “whoever scores more goals deserves it.”
