Rabat – The “Her Day for Her” master class held by Jadara Foundation on March 4 in Casablanca examined the unemployment rate of women in Morocco and the causes behind it, as well as ways to strengthen women’s representation in leadership roles in the country.

The event was held at the School of Management (ESCA) in Casablanca where women were selected to represent the event. Some of the representing women included General Business Manager at Nestle Morocco Imane Zaoui, actress and Director Samia Akariou, and Managing Director at SEPanouir association Aziza Gannoune.

The women were chosen from varied career paths “for the one goal that is inspiring attendees,” a press release from the foundation suggested.

The event welcomed 300 young women to encourage them to “break the glass ceiling that stands in the way of many girls and women in our country,” the press release continued.

“Certainly, the causes [of female unemployment] are numerous, two of which we are trying to tackle: self-censorship and absence of inspiring models,” explained Hamid Ben Elafdil, the Jadara Foundation president, in a statement.

On the foundation’s part, they clearly expressed: “No society or community can advance without half their talents, especially when talking about the youth.” Jadara foundation emphasized that female leadership is an “imperative necessity.”

The program’s objective was to help each of the participants decide on their future career path based on the women speakers’ career backgrounds.

Whereas the speakers’ objective was to inspire 300 girls present at the event by introducing their achievements and encouraging them to pursue their dreams and get out of their comfort zone.

Another key message at the event was that women are successful leaders whatever the specialty, be it business, engineering or sport; the list is endless.
