Rabat – Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that the club will not wait indefinitely for Atlético Madrid to decide on Julián Álvarez’s future, confirming that the Catalans have already submitted what he described as a “very significant offer.”
While Laporta insists Barcelona is still committed to signing the Argentine striker, he admitted the club has a list of alternative targets if negotiations fail.
Laporta confirmed Barcelona have reached a decisive stage in their pursuit of Álvarez after weeks of negotiations with Atlético Madrid.
He also made it clear that the club will not increase its proposal, and in the coming few days, will define whether the transfer is going to happen.
Making it clear that the club will not increase its proposal indefinitely.
“We have made a very significant offer; if they are willing to accept it, fantastic, but it won’t be unlimited,” Laporta said.
“We have to make a decision. Whether we maintain the offer or not depends on how these last two weeks of July unfold.”
Barcelona will not let their summer transfers be put on hold just for one player, as they are determined to keep their plans flexible.
For now, Barcelona’s message is clear: Julián Álvarez remains the priority, but not at any cost.
