Rabat – When it comes to celebrating International Women’s Day, there are countless women that deserve to be named and honored. Fatima-Zahra El Khalifa is a woman who excelled both in her education and her professional career.
Her driving ambition and love for her profession made her one of the pillar figures of society and an influence for the rising generation. It is with great delight to mention the worth-discovering profile of Fatima-Zahra El Khalifa, Director General at renewable energy company Cluster ENR.
Following her graduation from the business school (ESSEC) in Paris, El Khalifa began her career as a brand manager in the capital at Procter and Gamble between 2007 and 2008. She then occupied the same position at confectionary giant Nestle in London from 2008 to 2009.
Moving forward, the years between 2009 and 2011 saw El Khalifa’s evolution in freight and logistics as a business development manager at Bansard International Logistics, Shanghai. It was during her time in Shanghai, that she targeted the development of business between China and the MENA countries. At a young age, she led a team of 20 people.
With a rich career background by the age of 27, El Khalifa decided to return to her homeland to discover renewable energies and worked as a manager from 2011 to 2017 at Valyans Consulting in Casablanca, with the aim to enhance the implementation of the Moroccan solar plant.
“Renewable energies and sustainable development on a larger scale represent more than just an occupation for me. It is about personal commitment and daily motivation,” El Khalifa explained to news outlet Aujourd’hui Le Maroc (ALM).
Staying true to her passion, the young manager always wanted to do things that made sense and take up an occupation that created a positive impact. A desire which was made possible in her current occupation as a director general since 2017 at Cluster ENR, a climate innovation center in Casablanca.
This position was a golden opportunity for her to prove the power of a woman’s influence and that she can evolve wherever she wishes to do so. Although facing sexism and societal challenges can make career progression unfairly more difficult as women have to battle to prove their capabilities.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning El Khalifa’s special Emirates Energy Award, which she won during the World Green Economy Summit in Dubai in 2022. Remarkably, among 187 applications that the judges assessed from 16 countries worldwide, El Khalifa emerged as the winner for which she deserves to be a source of pride for Moroccans.
El Khalifa finally advised the audience in her interview with ALM: “Showing love to what we do is the veritable secret of a jubilant professional life. Creating a pleasant, supportive, and motivational working environment will allow us to motivate ourselves and excel in order to attain our objectives.”
