Rabat – The 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) is underway in New York, where various activists, advocates, experts, and governments are discussing ways to advance gender equality and empower women around the world.
During the UN gathering, Mohammed Dardouri, the Wali country coordinator of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) and a part of the Moroccan delegation in CSW67, discussed several initiatives that Morocco has undertaken to improve and enhance women’s status. Dardouri that the promotion of women’s rights is the core of the national initiative for human development.
In addition, Dardouri mentioned projects carried out by the INDH, aimed at improving the social, cultural, and economic status of women across different Moroccan provinces. INDH’s actions focus mainly on fields such as education, health, and entrepreneurship. The achievements of the initiative include the establishment of literacy programs for women, the provision of access to healthcare services, and the support of women-owned businesses, especially in rural areas.
Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Aawatif Hayar was also in attendance among other ministerial representatives from various departments and civil society organizations.
The 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women is scheduled to run until March 17. The meeting is centered around the theme of: “Innovation and technological change and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.”
Representatives from UN Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited NGOs from all over the world have come together to discuss this topic.
The CSW67 session aims to address challenges related to gender equality and women’s empowerment in various areas, including political participation, economic empowerment, and the eradication of gender-based violence.
