Rabat – Morocco’s football star Yassine Bounou was the best goalkeeper at the FIFA 2022 World Cup, according to Argentina’s Emiliano Martinez.

The Argentinian goalkeeper made his remarks about Bounou during a Q/A interview with sports news outlet Goal on Tuesday.

Throughout the World Cup, Morocco’s Atlas Lions made eye-catching performances during the national team’s historic run at the global tournament.

Bounou contributed to Morocco’s qualification to the semi-finals after saving the country from strong strikes from rival teams during the World Cup.

During the FIFA world tournament, Bounou earned the title “man of the match” twice following Morocco’s games against Portugal and Spain.

Recently, the Atlas Lion opened up about his participation at the 2022 World Cup, emphasizing that his performances are driven by his passion for football.

In an interview with FIFA+, Bounou said he is ready for another “incredible” future experience with the Atlas Lions.

“The streets were full of fans, and we could feel something exceptional happening. In our minds, we were only thinking of reaching the final. It was not possible but we had done something incredible,” he said.

Morocco reached the semi-finals during the World Cup competition.

Bounou is among the lineup that will take part in the friendly games between Brazil and Peru this month.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions will play the first friendly match against Brazil on Saturday, March 25 at the Tangier Grand stadium.
