Rabat – King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ismail, chaired the first religious lecture of the holy month of Ramadan at the Royal Palace in Rabat on Wednesday.
The lecture was delivered by Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq, under the theme “The fruits of faith in human life.” The lecture’s theme is inspired by the Qur’anic verse: “Whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, We will surely bless them with a good life, and We will certainly reward them according to the best of their deeds.”
Ramadan in Morocco, much like in all other Arab countries, is marked by a notable increase in the time devoted to worshiping and good deeds, and King Mohammed VI is always at the forefront of this trend.
This year, the Moroccan monarch mobilized a budget of MAD 390 million ($38 million), as part of the charity campaign called “Ramadan 1444” operation to provide assistance to one million households. The campaign extends to 83 provinces, with 77% of beneficiaries located in rural areas.
King Mohammed VI spearheaded the campaign through the Mohammed V Foundation, and the initiative was launched with the financial support of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs.
The campaign represents an annual tradition that aims to provide assistance to the most vulnerable of Moroccan society, including widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
To deliver aid to the needy, the Mohammed V Foundation for solidarity mobilized thousands of workers supported by social workers and volunteers, at the distribution points set up throughout the country.
