Rabat – Morocco strongly denounces the repeated provocations taking place in occupied Quds and specifically at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

Speaking during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Rabat, Bourita expressed the country’s strong condemnation of the recent incursion into the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque by a member of the Israeli government, emphasizing that such actions have become alarmingly frequent.

Bourita underscored that Morocco calls for an immediate halt to all measures that jeopardize the legal and historical status of the Holy City. He also highlighted the international consensus rejecting such actions and violations in occupied Al Quds, particularly at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Moroccan official stated that such violations not only fuel the already tense situation and undermine peace efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories but also have a detrimental effect on the prospects for peace in the region as a whole.

He added that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, consistently believes in and advocates for reaching a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiation.

A final resolution to the Palestinian issue can only be achieved through the two-state solution, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of July 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, he explained.

Expressing his hope for an end to the provocative acts, Bourita stressed their negative impact and added that they only serve to exacerbate extremism and violence in the region.

The condemnation from Morocco, a prominent member of the Al Quds Committee, adds to the growing international chorus of voices expressing concern over the recurring violations and provocations in occupied Jerusalem.

Over the past two years, Israel has performed several incursions and raids of Al-Aqsa mosque, often arresting worshippers or having occupiers repeat racist and Islamophobic slogans.

The most notable ones came during times of particular importance for Muslims, such as Eid or Ramadan.
