Rabat – Moroccan striker Tarik Tissoudali has said that the national football team must focus on the next goal, which is to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations AFCON.
“I am happy to be in the training camp with the Moroccan national team. We are like a family, the coach gives me confidence, and our next dream is to win the African Cup. This is our ultimate goal,” he continued.
Tissoudali did not have the chance to participate with his teammates during their historic World Cup journey due to injury. However, he expressed his delight to be back “home” and to start preparing for Morocco’s future games.
The Moroccan national team has been holding training sessions at the Mohammed VI complex in Mamoura in preparation for their upcoming two matches.
The first match is a friendly against Cape Verde, taking place on Monday, June 12 at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The second match will be against South Africa on June 17 at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Atlas Lions have already secured their spot at the competition.
In a press conference held on Saturday, Morocco’s coach Walid Regragui said that the coming friendly matches will be challenging for the Atlas Lions.
Regragui explained his statement saying that the players’ regular seasons have just come to a close, which will cause them to be physically and mentally exhausted.
The Moroccan coach added that the entire team will continue with the “positive momentum” generated by the players and Moroccan fans since the World Cup in Qatar.
