Rabat – Schneider Electric took first place on the Gartner Supply Chain’s Top 25 list of 2023, beating Tesla and marking its 12th consecutive year on the top 25 list.

The company’s mission focuses on sustainable solutions to supply chain management and they have been recognized as a longstanding leader in the race towards effective and sustainable digital transformation of energy and automation.

Natalya Makarochkina, the senior Vice President of the Secure Power division at Schneider Electric, says the company invests a lot of money into training services and programs that are committed to sustainability initiatives.

“We put a lot of effort into developing new solutions and new products connected to sustainability,” Makarochkina told Morocco World News at the GITEX Africa Summit in Marrakech last month.

The summit held last month was the first of its kind, hosting over 5000 startups that demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to green tech solutions in the fields of AI, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Cloud Computing, and Connectivity.

Schneider Electric is being noticed around the globe for leading the investment conversation towards sustainable energy solutions in the realm of industrialization, digitization, and supply chain management.

The company was recognized on The Global 100’s 2023 Sustainable Corporations Top 5 list this past January for the third consecutive year in a row.

Makarochkina says that Africa is quickly becoming a leader in the development of technologically advanced, sustainable, and renewable energy resources.

“What we see in Africa overall is changing a lot,” says Makarochkina.

“There’s a lot of investment by African governments in digital, in going sustainable. Overall for the last six years, if you look into African startups, you see, really, that the companies are using them.”

Many of which she says became unicorns, which are privately held startup companies valued at over one billion dollars USD. Makarochkina says Schneider Electric has seven unicorn startups in Africa, most of which appeared in the last year.

Makarochkina says Schneider Electric has been working closely with the government of Morocco  towards sustainable digitization.

Schneider Electric’s company slogan is “Life is On”, which Makarochkina says signifies the company’s belief that energy should be accessible to everyone.

Some of their most notable projects in partnership with the Moroccan government include building the largest data center in the University of Mohammed VI Polytechnique as well as the Tanger Med Port Complex, supporting the construction of an integrated port platform for complementary transshipment, import-export, value-added logistics, maritime, and port services.

“We combine innovation and sustainability to support our partners and customers in developing their own digital and sustainable strategies,” says Makarochkina.

“We work very closely with the government of Morocco, really focusing on the priorities of the government, which are also digital.”

Makarochkina says Schneider Electric is not only working within artificial intelligence, integrated technology, but is also working with other industries and has a whole division focusing on industrialization, including other large data centers, and a wide range of partners, distributors, and panel builders.

“We train them and certify them,” says Makarochkina. “We are very excited to be working with our Moroccan partners. They are really very experienced.”
