Rabat – Morocco’s U-23 National Football Team will lock horns on Friday with Congo at the U-23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as part of the third and final round of Group A matches.
The game will kick off today at 9pm GMT+1 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. It will be broadcast live on the official CAF Youtube channel CAF TV and Moroccan sports channel Arryadia in its TNT version.
The Atlas Lions, who currently lead Group A with a total of six points, will aim to maintain their record and continue their strong run in the tournament.
The Moroccan squad opened their U23 AFCON campaign with a last-minute 2-1 win against Guinea on Saturday. In their second match, Morocco showcased their attacking prowess, claiming a convincing 5-1 win against Ghana on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Congo sits at the bottom of the group with zero points, having struggled in the group stage after losing its games against Guinea (3-2) and Ghana (3-1).
With no chance of advancing to the knockout stages, the fast-approaching game will be an opportunity for Congo’s Leopards to redeem themselves following their previous defeats.
“We will approach this match with great courage and motivation. It is crucial for us to achieve our first positive result in this competition, as our plans have not materialized as expected,” said Congo’s Head Coach Cyril Ndonga.
However, Morocco, who have displayed dominant performances in the tournament, are favorites to win today’s clash.
