Rabat – The Moroccan national beach football team has qualified for the upcoming World Beach Games which will be held from 6 to 12 August 2023 in Bali, Indonesia.
The Moroccan squad secured a spot for the tournament after three consecutive victories during the African Beach Games organized between June 23-30 in the Tunisian town of Hammamet.
The national team officially achieved qualification on Thursday, after defeating Kenya 6-3.
Morocco won the first round over Tanzania with a result of 6-4, and the quarter-final round over Libya 13-5.
Before they go to Indonesia for the international tournament, Morocco will lock horns with Senegal on Friday, June 30 in the final match of the African Beach Games.
Speaking about Morocco’s strong determination to win the title, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation said on a Facebook post, “Let’s aim for gold.”
Morocco has never won a title in a beach football competition, although the team has come close on some occasions
In 2013, 2021, and 2022, the team was able to achieve third place in the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations (BSAFCON).
In the Arab Beach Soccer Championship, Morocco were runners-up in 2016 and semi-finalists in 2023.
