Rabat – In a surprising turn of events, Moroccan footballer Hakim Ziyech’s expected move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr is reportedly on the brink of collapse as his medical results raised serious concerns.
“As in January when he underwent medical tests at PSG, Al Nassr has identified a knee problem for Hakim Ziyech. He underwent further tests at PSG,” said sports journalist Santi Aouna on Twitter, adding that the Saudi club “has doubts about signing him now.”
In addition, local news reported that Ziyech failed to pass the medical tests conducted by Al-Nassr, jeopardizing the transfer, which would have seen the Moroccan player join forces with Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
Other reports suggested that the transfer deal is heading towards a collapse due to disagreements over personal terms.
This could be Ziyech’s second failed move this year after the collapse of his move to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in January due to paperwork issues on his club Chelsea’s end.
The potential setback comes after a turbulent period for the 30-year-old player at the English club, where he has struggled to make an impact over the past year.
In stark contrast, Ziyech showcased his skills on the international stage during the Qatar World Cup in 2022, playing a key role in Morocco’s impressive victories.
Many of the Moroccan footballer’s loyal fans, particularly those who hoped to see him remain in elite European football, saw the potential transfer to the Saudi league as extremely disappointing.
Many had envisioned Ziyech securing a deal with a top-tier Spanish LaLiga or English Premier League team, notably after his remarkable performances in Qatar last year.
