Rabat – Moroccans will celebrate the Islamic New Year on Wednesday, July 19.
The Islamic Affairs Ministry announced the news on Tuesday evening after religious experts carried out a crescent moon sighting.
Therefore, the first day of Muharram, marking the beginning of the Islamic new year (1445) will correspond to Wednesday.
The ministry concluded its statement, extending its good wishes and congratulations to the Moroccan people and the royal family.
Like Morocco, Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has announced Wednesday as the first day of Muharram.
