Rabat – Three Moroccan teams have successfully qualified for the international finals of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), which is set to take place this year in Panama on November 7-9.
“The three teams distinguished themselves in various categories of the competition, demonstrating their expertise in robotics and their commitment to tackling today’s challenges,” stated a press release.
The same source added that the Casablanca-based 3M team qualified to represent Morocco globally in the Robomission Junior category.
Likewise, the Godzilla team from Casablanca also secured a spot in the final round in the Robomission Elementary category.
Lastly, the press release stated that the Nova Explorers team from Tangier, who represent the Future Innovators category, qualified “with flying colors” to join the other leading teams in Panama.
Moroccan teams will have the chance to compete against teams from all around the world by making it to the international final in Panama.
The WRO is an international robotics competition that promotes science, technology, and education while giving youth the chance to be creative and acquire problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging environment.
Every year, WRO selects a theme that inspires participants to consider new ideas. For instance, this year’s WRO theme is “Connecting the World,” which emphasizes the value of robotic solutions in the areas of logistics, infrastructure, digital technology, and sustainability.
A month ago, the Moroccan “High Voltage” team from the Kaizen School in Casablanca won the 2023 First Lego League (FLL) global competition, which was hosted at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts in the United States.
By earning a spot among the top ten initiatives, the Moroccan team won the “Motivate Award.”
High Voltage competed throughout the season in a number of regional robotics competitions, where they were successful.
