Rabat – New updates in the Ziyech-Al Nassr saga have denied earlier reports that the Moroccan player’s scheduled deal with the Saudi club had collapsed due to his failing a medical test.

Falah Al Qahtani, a sports journalist from the news outlet Okaz, said on Tuesday that there were a lot of rumors about the Al-Nsr-Ziyech deal, stressing that many had hinted that negotiations between the Moroccan football player and the Saudi club broke down because the player had not passed his medical test.

“The fact is that the player did not even undergo a medical examination in the first place,” the journalist said, instead a disagreement between the Saudi club and Ziyech on the place of the medical test.

“Al Nassr asked him (Ziyech) to come to Madrid for the examination in the presence of the club doctor, and the player refused and insisted that the examination should be done in Morocco,” the journalist added.

In the past few weeks, reports on Ziyech failing to pass a medical test went viral online, with some claiming that a medical examination had revealed that the Moroccan midfielder/winger was carrying a knee injury.

Ziyech commented on the rumors with sarcasm with a social media post on his Instagram page. The player posted a picture of both of his knees, using laughing emojis and accompanying his post with the caption “Knee problem right??” using laughing emojis.

Many reported last week on the collapse of Ziyech’s scheduled move to the Saudi league, with many blaming the failure of the transfer on the Moroccan’s supposedly sub optimal physical condition and others pointing to disagreements over the physical aspects of the deal.

It remains to be seen whether Ziyech will be linked to another football club amid the continued uncertainty surrounding his future at Chelsea, the North London club where the Moroccan player has struggled for playing time over the past season.
