Rabat – The Kenitra anti-gang brigade, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, successfully arrested on Tuesday a 27 year old individual suspected of drug possession and trafficking.
The arrest was carried out based on intelligence provided by the services of the general Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, demonstrating the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in combating drug-related crimes.
Acting swiftly upon receiving the intelligence, the authorities were able to intercept the suspect at the toll station of the Kenitra highway, shortly after his arrival in a light vehicle from a city in northern Morocco.
During the subsequent search operation, law enforcement officials discovered and seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances. A total of 6,689 psychotropic tablets were confiscated, including 6,000 tablets of the “Rivotril” type, commonly used as an anti-anxiety medication, and 689 tablets of the “ecstasy” type, known for its hallucinogenic effects, the Kenitra police said in a statement.

The police authorities in the city have urged citizens to continue their cooperation by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or information that could help in the fight against drug trafficking and related offences.
Such collaborative efforts play a crucial role in maintaining the peace and security of the region, they said, adding that investigations into the case are ongoing and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
