Rabat – Morocco’s superstar Yassine Bounou is not against a move to German club Bayern Munich.
Sports news outlet Bavarian Football Works said that the Atlas Lion is open to joining the German club, which is reportedly keen to hire Bounou as number 2 behind Manuel Neuer.
The report comes as converging reports said that Bounou has been excluded from the pre-training camp with Sevilla.
The Atlas Lion, who has been a key football player for the Spanish club, is also attracting the attention of other clubs – including France’s PSG.
Other clubs setting sights on Bounou include Manchester United, who “have a crazy idea of signing Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou as a deputy to Andre Onana,” according to Man Utd News.
The news outlet, however, acknowledged that the Premier League club could face challenges in securing a deal with Bounou.
“A deal is currently ‘difficult’ to pull off as the Moroccan may not want to play second fiddle to Onana, but the Italian outlet insists that it is ‘not impossible’ to persuade him over a transfer,” says the same source.
It remains to be seen whether Bounou is leaving Sevilla as part of the summer transfer. The Atlas Lion has been pledging loyalty to the club, suggesting that an exit is unlikely for him.
The goalkeeper, who is one of the finest football players in Morocco’s history, earned himself several nicknames during the World Cup, including “the hero” and “the smiling hero.”
Having contributed to Morocco’s success to reach the semi-finals, Bounou also earned “the man of the game” twice during the World Cup matches against Portugal and Spain.
