Rabat – Moroccan Pyramids FC footballer Mohamed Chibi has opened up about the disturbing incident involving Hussein El-Shahat, a player for Al-Ahly SC, during a recent match.
The incident, which saw El-Shahat assaulting Chibi and making threatening remarks, has sparked outrage among football fans.
In an interview with “Al-Botola,” Chibi shared the unsettling events that took place during the match. He recounted how El-Shahat not only physically attacked him but also issued threats of breaking his leg.
El-Shahat’s use of derogatory language towards Chibi’s religion and his parents added to the gravity of the situation.
Following the match, Chibi, who had traveled to Saudi Arabia earlier to perform Umrah, decided to return to Egypt upon learning of the punishment imposed on El-Shahat by the Egyptian Football Association.
He told the sports media outlet that he returned to Egypt intending to pursue legal action against the Al-Ahly player.
The incident during the game between Pyramids FC and Al-Ahly, which ended in a 3-0 victory for Pyramids FC, has raised concerns over sportsmanship and fair play within the Egyptian football scene.
The Egyptian Professional Football Association has taken action in response to the incident, imposing a two-match suspension on Hussein El-Shahat and a fine of 20,000 Egyptian pounds for his unsporting conduct towards the Moroccan footballer.

“I was subjected to insults targeting both my mother and father, with derogatory language like ‘Chibi, you son of a b****’ during the Super match in the UAE, and, during today’s game, I endured harassment and physical aggression throughout both matches,” he said earlier today.
“Prior to today’s incident and before getting slapped, I received a threat of having my leg broken, with the perpetrator saying, ‘If you had started the game, I would’ve broken your leg,’” he added.
