Rabat – International Moroccan footballer Noussair Mazraoui appears to be planning to stay with his German club Bayern Munich for at least another season.
Responding to rumors linking him to a potential transfer during this summer window, Mazraoui stressed that he is now focusing on his time with the Bavarian club.
In a statement to the press on Sunday, the Atlas Lion acknowledged that speculations on his transfer increased following an interview he made recently.
“I gave an interview, since then a lot of papers and articles came out about [how] I’m not happy, I am leaving – [but] I’m still here. That’s what I am focusing on,” he said.
Mazraoui also denied rumors claiming that he has issues with head coach Thomas Tuchel.
He stressed that his relationship with Tuchel is good.
“We had a positive talk, and I am on good terms with the coach. It’s a new season. It’s a new start, a fresh start. All up to me to decide where the future is … so I am not going to complain about nothing,” he added.
In April, Mazraoui expressed frustration and disappointment about being benched and his lack of club playtime.
Mazraoui told sports journalist Maximilian Koch, “I was a starter here before the World Cup. Now I’m fit and don’t get any game time.”
He explained that Bayern Munich does not even “consider him a second or third choice.”
“It’s too early to talk about my perspective, but not good,” he said.
