Rabat – Revenues from Morocco’s fruit and berry exports amounted to $1.7 billion in 2022 alone, new data shows.

According to agriculture-focused news outlet East Fruit, Morocco’s revenues from the products’ exports totaled $7.1 billion during the 2018-2022 period.

The data stressed that Morocco is maintaining its leadership in increasing its fruit and berry exports, particularly to France and the UK.

Within the 2018-2022 period, Morocco’s fruits and berries were marketed to 122 countries. France in addition to the UK, Spain, Russia and the Netherlands topped the list of key importers.

Exports to France and the UK are continuing to increase compared to the Netherlands, Spain, and Russia.

In the past five years, Spain topped the list of biggest importers of Morocco’s fruits and berries, accounting for 27% of the country’s total exports.

“Meanwhile, Morocco was the fourth largest supplier of fruits and berries to Spain in 2022 with the share of 15% in Spain’s total imports,” East Fruit added. “Nevertheless, the revenues from the Moroccan exports to Spain fell by 23% compared to 2021.”

Meanwhile, France’s value of fruit and berry imports from Morocco accounted for $1.2 billion during the period in question, or 17% of the North African country’s total revenues.

This makes Morocco the fifth largest supplier of fruits and berries to France. The European country’s main imports include watermelons, melons, mandarins, and avocados, the data added.

During the same period, the Netherlands imported $1.2 Billion of Morocco’s fruit and berry, 17% of total revenue.

Morocco is also the 16th biggest supplier of fruits to Russia, with mandarins tipping the list of Moroccan exports to Russia.

Morocco is also the fifth biggest supplier of fruits and berries to the UK, whose imports include watermelons, Moroccan berries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.

According to the data, the aforementioned goods account for “about a half of total exports to the British market.”
