Rabat – Raja Casablanca’s defender Mahmoud Bentayg officially joined Ligue 2 team AS Saint-Etienne (ASSE), the team announced on Thursday evening.
According to the website Transfermarkt, the total fee for the transfer of the Moroccan was 600,000 euros.
“AS Saint-Etienne and Raja Casablanca have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mahmoud Bentayg,” the club stated. “The 23-year-old full-back joins Forez where he will play as number 13 for the next three seasons.”
The Moroccan defender was eager to try a new challenge and contribute to the overall performance of the team this season.
“I am very proud to wear the jersey of this great club. I want to bring something to the field to enable ASSE to achieve its objectives this season,” said the player.
“Mahmoud is an attacking player with a high volume of play. He has technical qualities and a good left foot that he will be able to put at the service of the group. His profile meets several criteria that we had identified,” added Laurent Batlles, head coach of ASSE.
During his time with the Casablanca club, Bentayg made 37 appearances in which he successfully caught the attention of the French club.
