Rabat – Morocco has donated 100 tonnes of fertilizers to El Salvador to support the development of the Central American country’s agriculture sector.
The donation is poised to significantly elevate El Salvador’s crop productivity and ensure food security for Salvadorans while strengthening the bonds between the two countries, said El Salvador’s Foreign Ministry in a statement on Wednesday.
The donation arrived at the port of Acajutla, Sonsonate, while the formal handover ceremony took place at the warehouse of the Agricultural Development Bank (BFA).
The ceremony saw the presence of officials from both countries, including El Salvador’s Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira, who expressed President Nayib Bukele’s deep commitment to agriculture as a key national interest.
“We are extremely pleased with this donation, which will contribute to achieving the objectives set in agricultural matters in the country,” she said.

Meanwhile, El Salvador’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Oscar Guardado expressed the government’s commitment to “dignify” the country’s farmers. He assured that the fertilizers would reach Salvadoran families engaged in agricultural production, safeguarding the country’s food security.
Also present at the ceremony was Morocco’s business representative in El Salvador Brahim Baddi, who described the fertilizer delivery as a symbol of the “excellent bilateral relations” and the solidarity shared within the North African country’s framework of South-South Cooperation.

This act of international cooperation comes at a time when Morocco and El Salvador are deepening their relations in various spheres. Notably, El Salvador opened its first African embassy in Rabat last year.
In addition, Morocco, through the OCP Group, has consistently extended a helping hand to countries in Latin America and Africa and provided them with fertilizers in the pursuit of food security.
