Rabat – MAS Fes moved to the top of the Botola Pro standings after defeating Hassania Agadir 2-1 on Saturday in the second round of Morocco’s top-flight championship.
The match was played at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, with both teams entering the fixture after winning their opening games of the 2026-27 campaign.
MAS Fes took the lead in the 26th minute through Anas El Mahraoui, who continued his strong start to the season.
John Mabasa then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 39th minute, sending the visitors into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Hassania push for comeback
Hassania Agadir responded after the break and reduced the deficit in the 56th minute when Imad Riahi converted a penalty.
The Souss club continued to push for an equalizer and created several opportunities, but MAS Fes goalkeeper Salaheddine Chihab and the visitors’ defense resisted the pressure to protect their advantage.
MAS Fes also searched for a third goal during the second half but were unable to convert their chances, with the score remaining 2-1 until the final whistle.
The result leaves the Fes club with six points from their first two league matches and places them at the top end of the early standings. Hassania remain on three points following their opening-round victory.
MAS Fes began their title defense last weekend with another 2-1 victory, this time against Renaissance Zemamra. Mabasa scored from the penalty spot in that match before El Mahraoui completed the comeback in the second half.
The defending champions are also balancing domestic competition with their CAF Champions League campaign after progressing past Burkina Faso’s Rahimo FC in the preliminary round.
Their upcoming schedule includes a two-legged Champions League qualifier against ASEC Mimosas later in October, adding another challenge to their strong opening to the domestic season.
