In their second game in this season’s La Liga, Sevilla FC lost 4-3 in a dramatic game against Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorrotza stadium.
Alaves opened the score early in the 7th minute with Luis Rioja. Sevilla quickly managed to get back in the game with an own goal from Alaves before Erik Lamela’s goal in the 41st minute of the first half.
Just before the end of the first half, Ruban Duarte managed to equalize for Alaves to end the first half with a 2-2 score.
The hosts were clearly determined to snatch the three points from Sevilla as Kike Garcia found the back of the net in the 54th minute to make it 3-2.
The same player came back only five minutes later to add a fourth goal in the 59th minute and raise the score to 4-2.
Sevilla attempted to look for a late comeback.
However, that was not possible due to the defensive strength of the newly promoted team and it was only in the last minutes of stoppage time when Rafa Mir managed to score a consolation goal for Sevilla to end the game 4-3.
With the transfer of Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to Al Hilal, Sevilla will have to start their second goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic who already conceded 4 goals in his first La Liga game this season.
The Andalusian club is now in the 18th place in La Liga table with no points from two games.
