Rabat – Today marks another thrilling event for Moroccan football as the Atlas Lionesses are playing their Women World Cup’s Round of 16 game against France.

The team will be playing with Khadija Er-Rmichi as the goalkeeper.

Morocco’s starting lineup for the game includes some of the names which contributed to qualifying to the knockouts, including Nouhaila Benzina, Fatima Tagnaut, Elodie Nakkach, and Hanane Ait El Haj.

The Atlas Lionesses list also features the team’s captain Ghizlane Chebbak, Nesryne El Chad, and Anissa Lahmari as well as Ibtissam Jraidi, and Sakina Ouzraoui.

The Atlas Lionesses are more motivated than ever following a well-deserved win against Colombia during their final group-stage game last week.

Today’s rival is coached by ex-Atlas Lions manager Herve Renard, who has already warned against the threat of the Atlas Lionesses.

“Morocco is not here by chance. This is a match of the same caliber as our game against Brazil,” Renard said on Monday.
The quality and competitiveness of Moroccan football has witnessed massive development recently under royal instructions.

This development has been reflected in many events, including the 2022 Men’s World Cup in Qatar – where the Atlas Lions became the first Arab and African team to reach the semi-finals.

If they win this game, the Atlas Lionesses will now take a revenge of sorts on the men’s team, who were knocked out by France in Qatar.

Reynald Pedros, the Atlas Lionesses’ coach, said he will have no qualms about beating France, explaining that “tt’s a special match because I am French and my heart is Moroccan.”
