Rabat – August 8 will see Morocco clashing with France in the round of 16 of the 2023 women’s world cup tournament held in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20.

This knockout game will take place at Hindmarsh Stadium at 12:00 p.m. Moroccan Time, and will be broadcast on Arryadia channel of the SNRT Live website.

Morocco made history yesterday after they stunned Colombia with a spirited 1-0 win that landed them in second position in Group H, ahead of Germany and South Korea.

Both Colombia and Morocco ended the group stage on 6 points, but the South American team topped Group H thanks to its superior goal difference. Meanwhile, heavy favorites Germany crashed out of the tournament in the group stage after being underwhelming in their games against Colombia and South Korea.

Yesterday’s qualification made the Moroccan women’s football team the first Arab and North African team to advance to the knockout stage of the Women’s World Cup.

Before the start of the tournament, some prediction websites such as Opta Analyst, considered Morocco as the underdogs in their group. Yet the Moroccan team’s odds-defying performances have shattered preconceptions and announced themselves as a serious opponent at the ongoing World Cup.

France, which are led by the former coach of the Moroccan men’s team Herve Renard, have also come from an impressive run, topping their group with two wins and a draw, making it seven points.

The round of 16 will see two other African teams competing alongside Morocco, namely Nigeria and South Africa. These three African nations have shattered barriers and defied all odds to secure their place among the world’s finest teams.
