Rabat – Head Coach of Morocco’s national women’s football team Reynald Pedros has made a bold statement saying that he will have “no qualms or remorse about beating France” at the Round of 16 of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The French coach made the remarks on Monday during a pre-match conference, where he stressed that he will “do everything so that we qualify for the quarter-finals.”
The sentiment of the match held particular significance for Pedros, who noted, “It’s a special match because I am French and my heart is Moroccan.”
The coach showcased a mixture of confidence and respect for both teams, emphasizing the importance of seizing the opportunity to advance further in the tournament.
“We are playing against an opponent who is even more formidable [than Colombia],” he added, recognizing the challenge ahead and stressing his and the team’s commitment to the game.
Reflecting on the achievements of the Moroccan team and the federation over the past three years, Pedros celebrated the progress they had made together.
The coach’s boldness extended to his approach to the game. “I claim absolutely no scruples,” he said, revealing his fearless attitude and determination to navigate the challenge ahead.

Although acknowledging France’s favored status, Pedros expressed that the Moroccan team was focused on their performance and had learned from previous experiences.
“Our chances compared to the France team are very minimal before the match … But after we play the match… we will see if the luck decreases,” Pedros said, noting the unpredictable nature of football and the potential for surprises.
He gave the example of Morocco’s group stage game against Colombia, who were the favorites to win the game. However, the Atlas Lionesses emerged victorious with a 1-0 scoreline, with Pedros noting that predictions don’t always dictate outcomes.
“If the French team is stronger than us… we will go out with honors,” he added, emphasizing the national team’s commitment to giving their best performance.
“We are going to do everything to be able to qualify for these quarterfinals,” Pedros concluded, emphasizing the collective determination of the Moroccan team.
