Rabat – Moroccan football star Hakim Ziyech has expressed a keen interest in reuniting with his former club, Ajax Amsterdam. While Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab have shown interest in acquiring the talented midfielder, Ziyech seems eager to return to the club that propelled him to stardom.

His desire to return to Ajax Amsterdam has been fueled by a longing to recapture the magic of his earlier years in the Eredivisie. Ziyech was an integral part of Ajax’s memorable run in the UEFA Champions League in 2019, which captured the world’s attention and earned him praise from football enthusiasts worldwide.

According to the British press, both Al-Ahli and Al-Shabab have emerged as potential destinations for Ziyech. However, the midfielder’s heart appears set on making a comeback to the Eredivisie and donning the iconic Ajax jersey once again.

The 30-year-old, who joined Chelsea for £34 million in 2020, has endured a mixed stint in the Premier League, showcasing moments of brilliance tempered by inconsistent performances. While he has continued playing for Chelsea, assisting in three goals during his 24 appearances last season, Ziyech has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Chelsea’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

Last season, Ziyech started in only nine matches and spent a total of 928 minutes on the pitch, falling down the pecking order in the squad. Despite these challenges, the Moroccan international’s talent has not gone unnoticed, as he has still managed to score 14 goals and provide 13 assists in 107 games across all competitions for Chelsea.

Earlier this year, Ziyech’s hopes of leaving West London were nearly realized when a loan transfer to Paris Saint-Germain was close to being finalized. Unfortunately, the agreement fell through at the last minute, leaving the midfielder disappointed.

While the situation remains fluid, Hakim Ziyech’s desire to return to Ajax Amsterdam may not come to fruition if the club remains reluctant to bring him back. As the transfer window progresses, fans and football enthusiasts alike will closely monitor any developments in this intriguing saga that could see Ziyech return to the club that played a pivotal role in his rise to prominence on the global stage.
