Rabat – A coast guard unit of the Royal Navy successfully rescued 56 candidates for illegal immigration from sub-Saharan Africa. The operation, which took place on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, saw the Royal Navy’s quick response in assisting a traditional boat carrying the individuals off the coast of Tan-Tan.

Sources within the military have revealed that the Royal Navy’s coast guard unit was engaged in a routine maritime patrol when they encountered the distressed vessel. The vessel, which was carrying individuals seeking to illegally immigrate to a new land, was reportedly in dire straits, prompting the Royal Navy’s intervention.

Following the successful rescue operation, the 56 individuals were transferred to the Royal Navy unit for initial medical assessment and care.

Once their condition was stabilized, the candidates were safely transported to the port of Tan-Tan later the same day. At the port, they were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie to undergo the necessary administrative procedures in accordance with the established protocols.
