Rabat – Saudi Arabian football club Al-Hilal has reportedly entered into advanced negotiations to sign Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou during the current summer transfer window.
“Al-Hilal is in serious negotiations to include the goalkeeper of the Moroccan national team and the Seville club, Yassin Bounou,” sports journalist Ahmad Al Ajlan tweeted today.
The club seeks to reinforce its goalkeeping position, which consists of Abdullah Al-Mayouf and Mohammed Alowais, ahead of the new season after falling short of expectations in the previous campaign.
Bounou has emerged as one of the world’s standout goalkeepers in recent years, particularly after his contributions to the Moroccan national team’s success in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. His impressive performances with Sevilla FC have also won him the admiration and respect of football fans and experts alike.
The pursuit of Yassine Bounou’s services has garnered intense interest in recent months. Several clubs are reportedly vying for his services, including Bayern Munich, which looks to fill the hole left in their team by Manuel Neuer.
However, Bavarian Football Works reported on Monday that the German club is hesitant to pay Sevilla FC the €20 million selling fee they requested for the Atlas Lion. Instead, Bayern Munich are interested in securing a loan deal with Bounou.
Despite reports of several European clubs’ interest in signing Bounou, including Real Madrid, Sevilla’s President Pepe Castro said last week that the Spanish club has received no offers for the Moroccan footballer.
“The reality is that we have no offers or knowledge of any team’s interest in Bono,” sports journalist Fabrizio Romano quoted Castro as saying.
“Real Madrid? There’s nothing so far, no talks for Bono,” he added.
As the summer transfer window draws to a close, deals will be harder to make for the Moroccan goalkeeper.
