Rabat – German champions Bayern Munich is reportedly hesitant to pay Spanish club Sevilla FC their requested transfer fee of €20 million for Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
Bavarian Football Works said that the German club is interested in securing a loan deal for the Atlas Lion instead.
The Spanish club, however, prefers to set up a permanent transfer to improve their finances.
The Bavarian club reportedly also thinks that Bounou is not as good as other goalkeepers, such as Yann Sommer “which is why they’re a lot more hesitant to pay Sevilla’s asking price for him.”
Therefore, Bayern Munich is seeking to have Bounou join on a loan agreement, as their starting keeper Manuel Neuer continues to recover from a major injury.
Bayern also faces a timeframe challenge in securing a new goalkeeper, as they are less than a week away from the start of the German top-flight league, also known as the Bundesliga.
The summer transfer window is also nearing its close, meaning that deals will be harder to make.
Bounou has been under the radar of several giant football clubs, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Several reports suggested that the Atlas Lion was among the top candidates to replace Real Madrid’s injured goalkeeper Courtois before the club announced that they are loaning in Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga instead.
Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano recently quoted Sevilla president Pepe Castro as saying that the club has not received any offers for Bounou.
