Rabat – Canada-based silver producer Aya Gold & Silver has announced a substantial expansion of its exploration program for 2023 in its Moroccan properties, which encompass the Boumadine polymetallic project, Zgounder silver deposit, Zgounder Regional properties, and the recently acquired Tirzzit copper-silver property.

In a bid to further unlock the potential of these properties, the company has added a total of 40,000 meters to its 2023 diamond drill hole program at the Boumadine project, indicated Aya Gold & Silver in a press release.

The expansion aims to achieve several key objectives, including extending mineralization to the south, investigating a new zone in the northwest associated with massive sulfide and brecciated zones, and completing infill drilling at specific spacings to deliver a resource by Q1 2024.

Commenting on the expanded drilling program, President & CEO of Aya Gold & Silver  Benoit La Salle expressed great enthusiasm about the progress of the four projects over the past year, emphasizing the need to continue the exploration to fully capitalize on the potential.

“This holds tremendous potential and requires additional drilling to ensure that we add tonnage and maximize value for all stakeholders,” he concluded.

This initiative will see the deployment of six drill rigs, forming part of the comprehensive drill program totaling 76,000 meters.

Meanwhile, the Zgounder Regional project will also experience a boost with an additional 7,300 meters added to the 2023 DDH program.

Objectives for this extension include testing the potential continuation of the Zgounder deposit east of the granophyre and exploring the southern rhyolite contact with the volcano sediments.

A single drill rig will spearhead this program, encompassing 14,000 meters.

As for the Zgounder project, an extra 3,000 meters of surface drilling will be conducted near the open-pit. This initiative will follow up on the 2023 drill results both to the east of Zgounder and in the southern part of the open-pit.

With one surface and two underground drill rigs currently in action, the program will now encompass 29,000 meters. In addition, two more underground rigs are set to join the drilling efforts in the coming weeks.

The company further highlighted its dedication to exploration and expansion with its newly acquired Tirzzit property, where initial stream sediment and mapping campaigns will take place alongside a high-resolution hyperspectral survey.
