Rabat – Moroccan footballer Romain Saiss will reportedly have to leave the Qatari club Al-Sadd and look for another team to play for, according to converging reports.

Saiss signed with Al-Sadd on July 24 just before the start of the Arab Club Championship. Now, he could already be on his way out of the Qatari club.

While his contract is expected to expire in June 2025, the club is reportedly having problems registering the Moroccan international.

In Qatar, clubs are only allowed to field seven foreign players. As a result, the Qatar federation has refused to validate Saiss’ license, which would force him to look for another club.

Saiss transferred to Al-Sadd earlier this summer from Turkish club Besiktas.

“Besiktas JK has informed KAP [Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform] that an agreement has been reached with Al-Sadd SC regarding the transfer of our professional footballer Romain Saiss,” the club announced in July.

According to the announcement, the transfer agreement contained a fee of 2.5 million euros and 300,000 euros in add-ons.

When asked by FootMercato about the reason for leaving the Turkish club, Saiss said that the problem lay with new head coach Senol Gunes.

“Since he arrived, there’s been an accumulation of things that led me to decide to leave because I couldn’t trust a person like that,” Saiss added.

Criticizing the coach, he further explained that “you can’t make yourself look good to the press and then tell me the opposite in private.”

The Moroccan defender enjoyed a fantastic run at Besiktas, where he displayed his defensive prowess.

Saiss had a distinguished career playing in Europe for Le Havre AC, Angers SCO, and Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to Turkey.
