Rabat – Morocco will celebrate on Friday the birthday of Princess Lalla Asmae, who is known for philanthropic efforts for children with hearing and speech disorders.
The princess has been active in social activism since a young age, continuously working towards the well-being of kids with hearing impairments and leading programs to support their full integration into society.
As president of the Lalla Asmae Foundation for Deaf Children, the princess has demonstrated efforts to provide support to that social group, with the institution pioneering the care of children with hearing and speech disorders.
For several decades, the foundation has been providing special education, based on national curricula, to beneficiaries who have digital hearing aids, cochlear implants, and electronic transmission systems to help them with their hearing.
By the start of the 2018 academic year, the foundation’s first cohort of baccalaureate holders had benefited from partnership agreements signed with the Faculty of Science in Rabat and the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, broadening their access to higher education.
The institution also offers courses in vocational training in areas including embroidery, weaving, and hairdressing.
The princess presided over the launch ceremony for cochlear implant operations at the Rabat Specialty Hospital in October 2022, as part of the “NASMAA” program.
The princess also serves as Honorary President of the Society for the Protection of Animals and Nature.
