Rabat – Following the tragic earthquake that hit Morocco on September 8, several foreign countries have expressed their will to assist the North African country as a gesture of solidarity.

Algeria, which severed relations with Morocco two years ago, decided to open its airspace and provide any necessary humanitarian aid.

Further east, Tunisia’s president Kais Saied coordinated with Morocco to send rescue teams to provide immediate medical assistance and relief to those affected by the earthquake.

In Europe, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it is ready to offer immediate assistance to the earthquake victims, according to President Emmanuel Macron.

During the G20 summit in India, Germany’s Olaf Scholz said that his country has mobilized its technical relief agency to aid the victims.

After extending warm condolences to the families of the passing victims, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also expressed the US’ readiness to provide any necessary aid the North African country may need.

The UK similarly confirmed its willingness to provide assistance, with its embassy – as well as the US embassy – joining in the national mourning by lowering their flags on Sunday morning.

Other countries such as Spain, Turkey, and Kuwait, among others, similarly expressed heartfelt condolences and proposed any assistance possible to Morocco’s victims.

Several Gulf country leaders have commented on the crisis, expressing condolences and sympathies, with UAE President Mohamed bin Nayef Al Nahyan ordering the establishment of an air bridge to provide the necessary aid.

Israel similarly expressed its willingness to assist, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen confirming the country’s readiness to help with any necessary aid.
