Rabat – Hamas is attempting to leverage Israeli hostages to stop the torrent of Israeli air raids targeting Palestine.
In a recorded video on Monday, Abu Obaida, the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement, known as Hamas, issued a warning to Israel, threatening to execute a civilian hostage live on air “in exchange for any targeting of our people in their homes.”
Abu Ubaida stated: “We declare that any targeting of our innocent people in their homes without prior warning will be met with the execution of one of our civilian hostages, and we will broadcast it in both audio and video.”
Earlier today, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced the killing of four Israeli prisoners in their custody due to the shelling in the Gaza Strip.
Abu Ubaida, in a post on his Telegram account, said: “The occupation’s shelling tonight and today in the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of four of the enemy’s prisoners and the elevation of their captors among the mujahideen.”
This came after the Israeli Foreign Minister stated earlier today that the number of Israeli prisoners in Gaza had reached 100.
After months-long provocations in the Aqsa mosque, Hamas launched Operation Al Aqsa Flood on Saturday. The operation resulted in widespread destruction in Israel.
Retaliating to the attack, Israel declared war on Palestine, and tightened its long-standing blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier today, the Israeli Minister of Energy and Water, Israel Katz, announced cutting water supply from Israel to the Gaza Strip, adding to the plight of Palestinians.
“I ordered to immediately cut off the water supply from Israel to Gaza. Electricity and fuel were cut off two days ago,” Katz said on X, formerly Twitter.
The decision to cut off essential resources is expected to further exacerbate an already dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
