On October 7, condemnation statements poured in from the world –particularly the West– condemnatory statements to denounce Hamas’ attack against Israel.
Subsequently, numerous claims and unverified reports emerged, including distressing allegations of violence and the killing of Israeli babies, accompanied by graphic images.
The situation caused further concern and condemnation despite the absence of a fact-checking system to verify the accuracy of the content. Some of this unverified content has also been used by top officials, including US President Joe Biden who initially claimed that he saw pictures of burned babies.
He claimed that he saw them during a meeting with Jewish leaders at the White House following the Hamas attack.
Stark disparity
Since then, many activists and rights groups have been condemning the West’s double standards, urging the international community to take action against the aggression and genocide of Palestinians, including the thousands of children murdered brutally by Israeli occupation forces.
The murder of Palestinian children has been documented on a daily basis, with videos and pictures depicting the harrowing situation in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Western powers led by the US have continued to lend their unwavering support to Israel, while refusing to acknowledge casualties on the Palestinian side, or to give them equal treatment.
The Gaza genocide in numbers
Several reports from international organizations have published data documenting the number of killed Palestinians and Israelis, with one report from British political campaign Led By Donkeys showing the disparity of child deaths in the Palestinian and Israeli sides since 2013.
The report found that Israeli occupation forces killed at least 2,779 children in 2023. On the other hand, Palestinian resistance movement forces reportedly killed 34 Israeli children.
A particularly deadly year for Palestinian children, 2014 saw Israeli occupation forces kill at least 546 Palestinian children. In 2021 and 2022, 85 and 44 children were killed by Israeli occupation forces respectively.
On the other side, Palestinian resistance movements reportedly killed two children in Israel in 2014, as well as two in 2021 and 10 in 2022.
Media coverage of Israeli aggression shows that the actual number of Palestinian children killed surpasses even the figures presented by Led By Donkeys.
The latest casualty figures presented by Al Jazeera show that Israel murdered at least 8,300 Palestinians in Gaza, including over 3,100 children.
The number of people killed in the occupied West Bank is estimated at 119, while wounded victims reached 1,960.
Well-documented propaganda
Israeli propaganda has continued to prioritize some lives over others, while disregarding the thousands of Palestinians killed in the ongoing aggression, and those who continue to live under oppression and in dire conditions.
A report from the Cradle also recently debunked the Israeli and Western double standards, emphasizing that data from Israeli media itself contradicted the government’s claims.
Data from Israeli news outlet Haaretz showed that the Hamas attack killed 1,400 Israelis, the majority of whom are adults. Furthermore, half of the Israeli fatalities were combatants – including soldiers and police officers.
In addition, the report attributed a considerable number of civilian Israeli deaths to friendly fire and mistakes from the Israeli occupation forces, rather than deliberate targeting of Palestinians by Hamas.
The report also identified no recorded deaths of children under the age of three, challenging the Israeli narrative that resistance fighters from Palestine deliberately targeted babies. Seven fatalities on the list were between the ages of four and seven, with nine others were between the ages of 10 and 17.
